Beauty along the Path

Most times, on hikes and in life, the destination is the top and we forget to look along the path. Sometimes that's were the true beauty lies.

On a recent hike I saw plants that looked like they had escaped the ocean floor.

The pattern in the bark of a tree.

A Newt that Aubree carried to the end of our hike.

If I wasn't looking down I would have missed the forest floor that was teaming with life under my feet. I find that I do that with my day to day life as well. I look forward to the next big thing, the weekend date night, the soccer game, the outing with friends instead of being present in my day to day life.

The other day Aubree and I were at the library. I sat on the couch while she played with a dollhouse. I was tempted to go on my phone and scroll but then I stopped and listened to her while she acted out her day. There was so much beauty in that small moment that it became the destination that I didn't know I needed.

Just recognizing that we need help and then attendend to our thoughts and visions helps. Friends do, too! Laughing is another great "pill" for feeling better and more cheerful. I love calling old friends so we can re-connect and have a good laugh over our prvious times together!

Changing to a ND-prescribed nutritional plan is hard, hard, hard—but can be life-changingly worth it. Thank you for sharing your struggles and journey!
