Avocado Brownies

ree

Every time I walked past the fruit bowl, I noticed the Costco amount of avocados that I had purchased the week prior. As a family, we eat avocados on toast, make pesto, and use it as mayo in egg salad and tortilla chips; Aubree can gobble down a whole avocado all by herself. So I was surprised that we had yet to eat them all. I needed a new recipe.

Yesterday, I made avocado brownies. They were chocolaty, nutritious, and resembled the consistency of flourless chocolate cake.

Avocado Brownies

One ripe avocado-mashed

1/2 cup cacao powder

Two eggs

1 cup coconut sugar-I cut the sugar in half

1/4 cup almond butter-I used peanut butter

One teaspoon of baking powder

One teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips-optional

Bake at 325 for 40-45 minutes in a lined nine-inch square baking dish with parchment paper: Refrigerate or freeze.

Soul Care Practice:

Sit down and avoid distractions, eat slowly, and use your senses. Smell the chocolate, and savor the taste. Thank God for the delicious dessert.

“My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips." Psalm 63:5

Avocados are nutritious, versatile, and delicious; avocados have become a kitchen staple in many homes worldwide. While some people refer to avocados as fruits and some say they're vegetables, avocados (Persea americana) are considered berries. They're a member of the Lauraceae plant family, including the cinnamon tree.

Avocados are rich in many nutrients, including fiber, healthy fats, vitamins C, E, B6, potassium, magnesium, and folate. Enjoying them regularly could help improve overall diet quality.

Hey, thanks for the info Heather. It actually makes a lot of sense. Haven’t thought about that before. Looks like I’ll be adding a little salt and a little maple syrup!

A great all natural deodorant is made by Little Seed Farm. Honestly, it is the only natural deodorant that seems to actually work for me.

Great information Heather, I’ve been there too and just a side note for those gals (like me) who suffer sensitivities to chemicals, my savior was apple cider vinegar to “kill bacteria” after washing and then I used coconut oil rubbed in the pit area. I also added essential oils of lemongrass or geranium for a scent. The ACV was only as needed sometimes takes a few days to kill all bacteria causing smell and then daily with the coconut oil.

Great topic Heather! It's definitely one not talked about often and one that you just have to try to figure it out on your own, at least for me anyway.
