The Everyday Miracle

Today in class, I shared from John 9:26–33, the story of the blind man whom Jesus healed. After receiving his sight, the man was questioned by the Pharisees. They wanted answers. They wanted explanations. They wanted to challenge what had happened.

But the man simply shared what he knew: he had been blind, and now he could see.

That story feels deeply personal to me.

I also shared a little about who I was in my youth. I did many things wrong. I made choices that hurt me and, at times, hurt others. But even then, Jesus was watching over me. He was protecting me, even when I didn’t recognize His hand in my life because I was blind.

Blind to what I was doing. Blind to the ways I was hurting myself. Blind to the ways my choices affected others. Blind to how far I was wandering.

It wasn’t until Jesus began healing me from my own blindness that I started to see clearly. I began to understand where I had been, what He had rescued me from, and how faithfully He had been with me all along.

Jesus has performed miracle after miracle in my life. Some have been big and obvious. Others have been quiet, slow, and deeply personal.

But to quote my mentor, friend, and class participant, Muffy: the real everyday miracle is that Jesus chose me.

That truth stops me in my tracks.

Just like the blind man who boldly shared that Jesus had healed him, I can say this with confidence: God is constantly healing me.

He is opening my eyes.

He is softening my heart.

He is helping me see myself, others, and Him more clearly.

And every day, I am reminded that the greatest miracle is not just what Jesus has done for me, but that He chose me, loved me, and continues to heal me still.

Will you join me and reflect on your own lives?

*Where in your life might Jesus be inviting you to see more clearly?

*Can you look back and recognize a time when God was protecting you, even before you realized it?

Hey, thanks for the info Heather. It actually makes a lot of sense. Haven’t thought about that before. Looks like I’ll be adding a little salt and a little maple syrup!

A great all natural deodorant is made by Little Seed Farm. Honestly, it is the only natural deodorant that seems to actually work for me.
