Seven Day Smoothie Challenge

I've never been one to drink smoothies everyday for breakfast but found the recipes

to be thick, creamy, delicious and quite satisfying.

The first smoothie, Fruit Fusion, claimed to be full of antioxidants to prevent blemishes. It also said to be a nutrition powerhouse that was designed to leave skin glowing and the Zinc was said to help reduce inflammation. The next smoothie, my daughter Shyla and I both tried. The Berry Blast smoothie, again was delicious and satisfying. It aimed to protect skin from harmful pollutants with the help of antioxidants.

September's Feature Snacker, Laurie Yager's reaction to the smoothie recipes...

"I have a very limited smoothie experience. Today, I made the berry blast smoothie, but I noticed that the recipe didn't have clear directions for how much spinach and how much hemp powder, I took some educated guesses. Finding hemp powder was my first challenge. I found ground hemp seed and hoped that would work. Also, almond milk is a world I have hardly explored. How to pick one of those? I chose one an unsweetened vanilla flavor and it worked well. What surprised me is that you couldn't really taste the flaxseed or some of the other ingredients. Most of my family drank it right up without complaints. It wasn't a strong sweet flavor, which might be from the berries I chose."

The bottom line...

Did drinking smoothies everyday for seven days make my skin glow?

Did they help with inflammation or clear skin?

The answer is... I didn't notice a difference.

But they were a delicious way to get more fruits and vegetables, hence vitamins, into my diet and it was nice to have more options for breakfast.

Have you tried our Featured Snacker's smoothie recipe? It's yummy! You can find it here

Changing to a ND-prescribed nutritional plan is hard, hard, hard—but can be life-changingly worth it. Thank you for sharing your struggles and journey!

From what I have been reading. In the book Let food be your medicine by Dr Colbert sometimes it could be an inflammatory issue in your body and you body is letting it show on your skin. You eat pretty healthy but who knows you maybe eating a healthy thing like peppers for example that is causing inflammation in your gut /intestine. Just a thought. Love your work! Dawn R

I would not take the same injection but would ask the doctor for other options.
